Press Release by Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies at NGS 2011, Charleston SC
In the summer of 2010 the Birdie Monk Holsclaw Memorial Fund Committee announced the establishment of the Birdie Monk Holsclaw Scholarship for IGHR. The scholarship is name for and in honor of Birdie Monk Holsclaw who for many years attended IGHR and was also a frequent IGHR lecturer. The scholarship, which covers the cost of tuition, will be awarded annually and is open to anyone (with the exception of members of the Birdie Monk Holsclaw Memorial Fund Committee, and current members of the Executive Board of the Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies.)
Applications are due on or before October 1st of each year and will be reviewed by the Birdie Monk Holsclaw Memorial Fund Committee. The scholarship must be used during the IGHR year for which the application is made.
Please include the following in your application:
• The length of time you have been doing genealogy
• The name of the IGHR course you plan to attend
• In 500 words or less, a descrioption of how participation in this course will benefit you.
• In 250 words or less, tell us all about yourself.
• A letter of recommendation from another genealogists
The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by e-mail no later than December 10th.
